Earring Cubbies

These are my nifty earring cubbies. I made them out of those floating wall cubes like these. Then I built a frame inside the cube an inch from the back (so your earrings don't poke the wall) that I attached the mesh to with push pins and glue.

The mesh is plastic needlepoint canvas from Michael's that I spray painted silver. The little holes are perfect for your earrings to stick through.

We did another homebrew this weekend - Oatmeal Stout so look for pics of that event soon. Mom took most of the pictures this time so I'm waiting for her to get home and send them to me.

New Art!

Check out the new art! I can't believe how perfectly it fit into the space. The piece looked so huge and our place is so small I thought it might hit the ceiling. Thanks Andy and Ashley Davis! Check out www.mynameisandy.com for more great works of art.

On either side of the great new art are photos I took in Baja California, one of a pharmacy and one of the border fence at Tecate. Framing your own photos is a great way to get some inexpensive art on the walls!

You can see that it was buy one bottle of wine get one for 5¢ at BevMo. There are even some extras hidden in the cubbies.

Shelves as nightstand

I had a pretty decent nightstand but it's depth took up way too much of the tiny room's space. I hunted online and found these awesome shelves. They aren't your ordinary thick hollow shelves, oh no! They have little drawers in them where you can hide your nightstand clutter.

You will never guess where I found them. You probably haven't shopped at this store since 1984, if ever. JCPenney!

The hardware to install them is good quality, not those flimsy screws that make your shelf dangle precariously from the wall. They have those nice horizontal brackets that mount to the wall, then you hang the shelf on that. So if you don't screw it in exactly right, you're not screwed! Use your level though.
